Les Baux was my favorite place to visit in France. The Chateau des Baux is a castle and fortress built into a mountain that is largely rock. The chateau was built in the 10 century and was used to protect the small town that surrounds it. Although the climb to the top of the fortress was steep and the stairs were very narrow and uneven, the view from the top was unbelievable. The countryside is full of vineyards and olive trees. After visiting the chateux and having lunch in the village, we drove down the road to visit the Cathedral of Images where we saw a great exhibit on Van Gogh. It was a great day!
The Cathedrale D'Images - this site was an old calcium quarry that has been transformed into a gallery. Images are projected on giant walls. Some images even show on the floor and ceiling. The images are accompanied by music. You get the feeling of walking into a stone cave and then are surrounded by images everywhere. It is a very surreal feeling. This year, the Cathedrale D'Images was exhibiting the works of Van Gogh
